When it comes to amplifiers, you are probably used to having to compromise.

In the past, you could get a subtle, precise sound from a smaller amp, or you could get more volume from a big power amp. Having to choose between the two limited your sound experience.

What if you didn’t have to choose? A constellation audio review can show you how Constellation Audio uses state of the art design to give you both precision and power in one amp.

Keep reading to learn about Constellation Audio’s ranges, and what makes them stand out from the competition.

Constellation Audio Ranges

Constellation Audio has five ranges, beginning with the simplest designs and moving up to designs with the most elegant and advanced engineering. Constellation’s design team worked on the premise of making what they had always wanted to create if price were not a factor.

The Constellation amps not only have high end audio capability, but are also visually appealing. The Pictor and Taurus sound systems have smooth shells, while the Virgo and Centaur lines are textured like a polymer metal.

The basis of all of Constellation Audio’s products is the use of basic circuits. This, along with the separate power supply modules, provides consistency of sound.

It also makes it easy to upgrade one part of the system without needing to upgrade the entire system, as most of their amps work well with each other. You can mix and match them according to your needs.

Constellation amps maximize sound quality while leaving out the need to gain stage. Noise and distortion are kept to a minimum and the signal to noise ratio is ideal.

Legacy

The Legacy series includes Hercules, Pyxis, Altair, Virgo, Virgo II, and Centaur.

Inspiration

The Inspiration series includes a preamp, and stereo and mono amps.

Revelation

The Revelation series launched in 2017, and includes Pictor, Andromeda, and Taurus. While it is a mid-range series, it is more similar to Performance than to Inspiration in terms of its quality and elegance.

Reviewers hold the Taurus Mono in high regard, stating that it combines “high power with sonic finesse“. This model uses balanced bridged amplification circuits, which use only NPN output transistors. The effect of this design is the elimination of differences between output devices, and this reduces the blurring of fine detail in the sound.

Performance

The Performance series includes Argo, Virgo III, Cygnus, Perseus, and Centaur II. The Constellation stereo Centaur II received an award for the sound quality it achieved at a show.

Cygnus is unique for being the company’s only digital source.

Reference

The Reference series includes Altair II, Orien, and Hercules II.

Altair II is notable for its rare components, some of which are discontinued elsewhere. It uses thick aluminum panels for the chassis, which makes it harder for vibrations to affect it.

Additionally, the thick metal panels have the benefit of block electromagnetic or radio frequency interference. This is especially useful if you are using the product in your home. It’s why Constellation high end audio receives such high praise in reviews.
